Holiday is the happiest moment of our life. The moment when people are finally free from their busy daily routine for a little while. Go on a vacation might be the right choice of activity during holiday. Besides, being able to travel the world is everyone’s dream. However, there is a quote saying that “there’s no pleasure without pain” and that is the same thing we encounter behind all those fascinating photos in our Instagram. Having long-haul flights may be a consideration for some people for not to travel too far, especially for most people like us who much prefer economy class flights.
Fly in an airplane is an absolute different situation comparing to other transportation. During flights, we are disconnected from our mobile connection which not allow us to have an Internet access except if we are willing to spend a little money to buy the Internet package. But most of the time, we decide not to spend our money for an Internet connection during flights regarding the price that is not worthy enough. Moreover, it’s not only about the Internet connection which is limited, but our activities as well. In other words, the only activity that we do is to sit until the plane lands at the destination which is really frustrating. So, on this occasion, I would like to share some tips in order to cope with the boredom of long haul flights.
One of the strategy to survive a long-haul flight is choosing a night flight time. A night flight time is a quite effective way for me because it enables me to fall asleep all night even though it feels a bit uncomfortable. But some people may difficult to take a rest during flights due to the uncomfortable situation. Therefore, choosing a window seat might be a great idea to get through it. Choosing a window seat enable us to have another view options so that we don’t feel that saturated.
Another effective way to overcome the boredom is to watch movies and listen to music that are provided by the airlines. Both activities might distract our concern from waiting for the plane landed and help us to feel sleepy as well. In addition, there is a fact that many people don’t know: passengers can actually ask for extra food to the flight attendants. I got this information from my mom’s friend who work as a stewardess at a certain airline that we could ask for cups of ice cream as many as we want.
Last but not least, the most important way to cope with long haul flights is to make ourselves as comfortable as we can. It is suggested for us to wear comfortable cloths since the temperature may decrease or increase as we fly. It doesn’t matter if we want to take off our shoes during the flights because cabin pressure affects our body circulation. And it should be noted that bring a neck pillow is a must in order to reduce neck pain while we take a rest. Lastly, it is really recommended that we stretch our body in the middle of the flights rather than put our butt on our seat for hours which can cause buttocks cramps.
That’s all the tips for long haul flights and I hope long haul flights are not a barrier to going on vacation.
